I Am Thankful....

In honor of Thanksgiving I want to say what I am thankful for:

1. My husband- the love of my life!
2. My kids- even when they are naughty
3. Our extended families
4. Our good friends
5. The gospel
6. To have a warm roof over our heads
7. Yummy food to eat
8. Our jobs
9. The freedom we enjoy living in this great country
10. Nice cars to get us where we need to go- glad I don't have to walk everywhere!

The list could go on and on, but I really am thankful and grateful for the many blessings that I have. I probably take it all for granted too often, but I do know how blessed I am.

Yay! Tegen Finally Lost a Top Tooth....

Tegen is in 3rd grade and his front two top teeth have been loose for a couple of months, but I didn't think those dang things would ever come out! I even had the dentist do an x-ray because I was worried that his teeth weren't even coming loose. Well... finally! Last night after he went to bed he wiggled and jiggled his tooth and popped it right out! Hallelujah!

I know- what a disgusting picture, right? Well- he begged me to take a picture of it and I couldn't refuse. He was so proud! Now if he could just work on the tooth next to it he could really sing the song "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" and be serious. Hehe! Now Traysen asks every day if I'll wiggle his teeth because he's convinced that one of them is loose. Yea right! If he's anything like Tegen it will still be a while. Ahhh... the joys of raising kids!

Lotion, Anyone?

I made the serious mistake of leaving a bottle of lotion unattended on our end table.... and guess where the remainder of the bottle ended up? Yep- you guessed it- all over my sweet little 3- year-olds hair and face. I was in my office (yes-basically ignoring him) so he decided to help himself. That's what I get for trying to play on the computer! This is what the finished product looked like. This picture does NOT do this little mishap justice! but he really slathered it ALL over. Good thing is- he won't need to be lotioned up for a while :)

Honoring our Veterans....

I have done a couple of different posts on our military now, but what better day to do another one than Veterans Day? As most of you know my brother Kris is in the Army. I just wanted to take a moment today to urge each of us to stop for a minute and remember what our military personnel has done for us. Whether they are veterans from the past, present or future these men and women give up so much to serve our country. I am so grateful that they are willing to serve for us. They do not have easy lives and what they do is scary hard work!

We get so busy and stressed out every day with all the crazy things we have going on, but for just a minute let's stop and say thanks to all the veterans. And don't forget to keep them in our prayers!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is over! We had a great day this year. The kids didn't have school on Friday so it was a nice relaxing day. Ed took the afternoon off work so that we could get an early start on trick-or-treating. Tegen and Tray were football players and Talen was a cute little lion.

We went over to Snake River Landing to go through trick-or-treat street. A lot of vendors got together and passed out candy up and down one street to thousands of kids! We got there early and there was already a huge line. Behind this picture of Ed and the boys you can see part of the line. We know someone whose office put this together and they were estimating about 4,000 people coming for this event- glad we got there early!!!

After trick-or-treat street we went to my sis-in-law Shanda's ward for a trunk-or-treat. This is her cute family with Teg and Tray. The scary looking girl that is way tall is her SON! Yes he dressed like a girl and I definitely think he looks better as a boy, but it was sure funny!

I think that Halloween should be on a Friday every year because there was no worries about hurrying to get the kids in bed for school early the next morning (while they are all high on sugar I might add). And this year the weather was so nice! It sprinkled a bit, but the temperature was about 63 degrees. SO NICE! It was a perfect Halloween day! I hope you all enjoyed the holiday this year too- and are now getting prepared for the busy holiday season...

So The Report Cards Are In....

Last night was parent-teacher conference (already, can you believe it?) and we went to Tegen's classroom first. He has Mrs. Anderson and she told us that Tegen is a great student. He always listens and does what he's supposed to do without being asked (wish I could say the same for his chores). He has taken the most Accelerated Math tests in his class and is reading at a 6.1 grade level. He got all A's and we are extremely proud. She said she likes to keep him in the center of the class because he is kind of like the "glue that holds them together" (her words, not mine)... so that's sounds good I guess.

Tray on the other hand.... He also got all A's and his teacher (Mrs. Hirtle) said that he's very smart, but rushes as fast as he can to do everything. And he LOVES, loves, loves to talk! Gee... big surprise! They have to write in a daily journal and draw a picture and almost every day his said "I luv to toc." She had to BAN him from writing that anymore! She said that she will give them a warning when they are being noisy and then a Thinking Time Ticket and they have to sit at a special desk (like a time-out) and write about what they did wrong and what they can do to correct their behavior. Tray had about 30 Thinking Time Tickets (seriously!) and they all said "I toct. I should not toc. (toc = talk). Yea- so we had to come home and have a serious discussion about when it's okay to talk and when it's time to be quiet. We'll see how long it lasts. On the bright side- he is a social butterfly and gets along with everyone.

Hmmm... makes me wonder how Talen will turn out!

The Things Kids Say...

My kids say the funniest things every day and I always think I will remember them, but I never do. So here are a few of the most recent funny sayings:

Tray was playing a game on the computer the other day and Ed and I were watching him. When he won we said "Good Job Tray!" and he looked over at us all calmly and said "Yea, that's just how I roll." It was SO funny!

Talen: He has had allergies lately and keeps telling me that his eyes are "drooling"

He wants to hug and kiss me all the time! I actually want to count one day because it's probably like 40 times a day or something. He calls hugs- huggies (yea, like the diaper) and he tells me "Mom, you're my best buddy." He is so sweet. He is definitely my most cuddly child.

He told me yesterday that he can't wait to grow up and be a daddy. He said that he will be a daddy when whiskers grow out of his face and his nose just like his daddy. Then he said he will be a daddy when he grows a big body with a big bum bum and nuts. Okay- please don't judge me. I have no idea where he got that. I certainly don't walk around saying that word, but with two older brothers I'm sure I have some idea where he heard it. You gotta love the things boys say!

I just love to laugh at all the funny things my kids say everyday. I'm sure as parents we could put together a pretty hilarious book chock full of funny kid sayings!
